Student Teaching Awards

As a Student Teacher you are eligible to apply for two awards that feature excellence in Student Teaching:

The Alberta Retired Teachers' Association Award

  • Awarded annually to a student having completed their Introductory Professional Term within an undergraduate degree program in the Faculty of Education.
  • Recipients will be selected on the basis of demonstrated excellence in the student teaching experience and an academic standing of at least 3.0.
  • Preference will be given to students who have shown excellence and ongoing commitment to working with young people in either paid or volunteer positions (i.e. coaching, youth groups, tutoring, mentoring, etc.)

 The E.E. and G.S. Lord Memorial Prize

  • Awarded annually to a student in the Faculty of Education who is judged to be the outstanding Student Teacher in the Advanced Professional Term in their program route.
  • This students overall GPA must be greater than 3.3 on the last 60 credits of course work.
  • Each applicant must submit a lesson plan (20-minute minimum) and a lesson assessment during the final field experience.

If you are eligible and interested, ask your University Facilitator for more information early in your field experience in order to meet the requirements of the application.
